Sierra Vista Bible Church exists to glorify God through preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, worship, discipleship, fellowship, missions, and the evangelizing of the unsaved by the proclamation of the Scriptures.
I
Preaching the Gospel
Preaching the Bible matters more than anything else we do, because it is how God turns people from their sin. We work through books of the Bible a passage at a time, and the sermon is the center of the service.
John 1:1 · Romans 1:16 · Romans 10:17
II
Worship
We worship God together by reading the Bible out loud, listening to it, putting it to work in our lives, and singing. We look out for one another as the Spirit changes us.
John 4:23–24 · Galatians 5:22–23
III
Evangelism
Every Christian has a part in this. We want people who do not know Jesus to come to know Him, and then to keep growing in Him.
Mark 16:15 · Colossians 1:24–29
“Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season.”
2 Timothy 4:2
Our statement of faith
We believe the Bible is God's word, true in all of it, and the final authority for what we believe and how we live. Read our full statement of faith here.
We sing, pray, read the Bible out loud, and hear a sermon that works through a book of the Bible a passage at a time. We take communion together, and we baptize believers by immersion.
What to wear
We don't have a dress code. Some wear a suit, some wear jeans. Whatever you are most comfortable in is fine.
Bring your Bible
The preaching goes straight through the text, so it helps to follow along. If you do not have a Bible, ask at the door and we will give you one.
The church itself
How we are led
A board of elders leads the church. They are men who meet the standards the Bible sets for the job. Our teaching pastor is one of the elders, and deacons take care of the practical needs of the church. Christ is the head of the church. The elders answer to Him.
Who serves
Sam Shwetz — Teaching Pastor and Elder Mike Nauertz — Elder Daniel Nakamura — Elder Ron Holdridge — Deacon
Our standing
We are an independent, non-denominational church. We are not beholden to any outside entity or board.
